Arkansas basketball defeats Vols in SEC opener
No. 18 Arkansas (11-3, 1-0 SEC) defeated No. 20 Tennessee (10-4, 0-1 SEC), 86-75, Saturday in a SEC opener for both schools at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Tennessee converted 12-of-23 free throws in the contest and had its four-game winning streak end against Arkansas.
Vanderbilt basketball kicked off SEC play with an 83-71 victory over South Carolina on Jan. 3 at Colonial Life Arena, extending its undefeated start.

The Vols snapped out of their 3-game losing streak (against Kansas, Syracuse and Illinois) in style, beating a ranked Louisville squad by 21 points. That should give Tennessee plenty of confidence heading into Arkansas to start SEC action. As the new-look Vols continue to jell, this won’t be a team anyone wants to face.
